5 DEGRADING STEREOTYPES ABOUT WOMEN

Stereotypes are a widely set or fixed overgeneralized belief about a particular group or class of people. This post is not meant to demean men or paint them in a bad light but to bring awareness to the issue of "degrading women".

1. HOME-MAKERS
It is popularly believed that women are expected to be the ones taking care of the children, cleaning, cooking and putting the house in order while the men just take care of finances. Moreover in some cases the women are expected to do all while the men just sit back and be "king".

2.TOO EMOTIONAL
Most women are assumed or believed to be weaklings and emotional all the time. They are expected to always run to the men for help when things go wrong or there seems to be no way out. while men are meant to be self confident and aggressive.

3. NO HUBBY, NO HAPPINESS
Women are incomplete/unfulfilled without a husband or children. Many believe that the sole purpose of women on earth is to be wives and mothers, so when they occupy top positions at work, it is sometimes or most times a threat to the other gender.

4. PUSH-OVER
When a woman is outspoken, strong or fights for her rights, she is called aggressive, rude, nuisance and bossy. A woman is expected to take things as they come, be dependent on men.

5. BE SEXY
Women are expected to be thin and graceful, they get judged when that gain a little or more weight, they are expected to snap back immediately after child birth, they are compelled to do or use everything in order to stay sexy.
