THE MOST SPOKEN LANGUAGES IN THE WORLD
A language is a system of communication used by different
countries or communities. Learning a new language can be fun and exciting or it
could be a herculean task, but before you go to that language school here is a
list of popular languages in the world.
1.
CHINESE/MANDARIN – This language has 1.2 billion
native speakers, it is mostly spoken in China, Taiwan, Singapore. It is
regarded has the world’s most spoken language because of the number of native
speakers it has (955 million) and the number of non-native speakers (194
million).
SPANISH – This language is spoken in at least 21 countries (Puerto Rico: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Spain, Uruguay, and Venezuela. P.S it’s one of my favorite languages.

ENGLISH – There is an estimate of 1.5 billion
speakers of English globally, 67 nations has English has their primary language
while 27 countries has English as their secondary ‘official’ language. Some
English speaking countries include (Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize,
Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, St Kitts and
Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United
Kingdom, and United States of America.
FRENCH – This beautiful language also known as the language of love has 67 million native speakers and 63 million non-native speakers. Countries that speak French as an official language are Belgium, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Canada, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, France, Gabon, Guinea, Haiti, Ivory Coast, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Mali, Monaco, Niger, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Switzerland, Togo and Vanuatu.

RUSSIAN – This
language has 260 million speakers as at 2012; it is mostly spoken in countries including
(Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belorussian, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia,
Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine).
ARABIC – This language is spoken in 27
countries including Bahrain,
Comoros, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon,
Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria,
Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Palestine, and Western Sahara. It is also
the language of the Islam sacred book also known as the Qur’an.
