Setbacks are events that occur during a project or while trying to achieve a new milestone in any aspect of life. Setbacks slow down or make you lose progress but you mustn't fret because it is a part of life and many people (successful people) walking on the face of the earth has suffered major setbacks at some points in their life. Here are some major principles on how to deal with it;

1. EXPECT & ACCEPT IT - When a setback occurs it means you are doing something hugely important so look forward to facing a few challenges. After experiencing the challenges expected, you have to accept it, take it has a sign that you are doing something meaningful.

2. DON'T OVERTHINK IT - The more time you waste sulking about the challenges you faced(ing), the more the memory lingers and it is difficult to move on if all you dwell your time on is your minor setback. If for example your business idea doesn't pan out or you didn't get a scholarship you applied for, you get 10-30 minutes to sulk then you have move on.

3. RESEARCH MORE AND MAKE ADJUSTMENTS
-
Thoroughly find out what lead to the setback in the first place. Talk to and ask as many people as possible, so you are more knowledgeable than you were previously. After the research comes the adjustments, you have learnt the solution to the problem, now try to fix it.

4. HAVE FAITH AND BE POSITIVE
-
These two sort of goes hand in hand. Positivity cannot be achieved without having faith in yourself. Everything we do in our lives requires faith, shopping for new clothes, applying for a new job position, transferring to another university, eating out e.t.c are all done by faith. So you need to keep a positive attitude in order to sustain the faith in yourself and in the adjustments you have made to your work.

5. ALWAYS ASK FOR HELP WHEN NECESSARY - We have established that setbacks are a part of life and they mostly lead to something great. During those trying times, it might be difficult for you to handle the pressure all by yourself. Even after you have learnt from your mistakes and made necessary adjustments, staying positive and keeping faith might be a mentally draining task to achieve on your own. That's why you need to surround yourself with positive thinkers and those that will be willing to egg you on; on those days when you find it difficult to be steadfast. Remember they say "a problem shared, is a problem solved or at least half solved".

I hope this lifts your spirit and inspires you. All will be well.

Peace, love and champagne.
