AMAZING EVENTS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2021

 1. Travelling and Visiting family

Like so many others, I am really looking forward to this.  If all goes well with the Vaccine, we should be able to mingle freely.

2. Worldwide Circulation of Covid-19 Immunization

Thanks to Pfizer and BioNTech for the creation of the vaccine, we are looking forward to it reaching everyone. Since it was released to the public last month, there has been no death recorded from the use of the vaccine, so, I believe to some extent it is effective.

While it is not a cure for the virus, it is a great way of sustenance.

3. JoeKamala Inauguration

The moment majority of the world has been looking forward to is fast approaching. The event is slated for 20th of January 2021 at the West Front of Capitol the theme for the inauguration is "Our Determined Democracy:Forging a More Perfect Union." The inaugural ceremony will be 80% virtual.

4. 6G

We have heard of 3G, 4G, 5G, apparently 6G is now in the works.  They are described as different generations of technological standards for cellular networks. They help your phone load and perform faster. Countries like Japan and Korea are reportedly working on 6G potentiality.  Distance learning, tele networking, virtual reality etc will significantly improve if 6G is turns out successful.

5. Drone Delivery

This is a big step in the logistics industry. Companies like Amazon, UPS, Walmart etc are already falling in line to this new style of delivery. It means your packages will arrive at your doorstep earlier. While this is good news to the ears of customers, I don't know what this means people employment-wise.

6. Single Use Plastic Ban

Parliament approved a new law banning single-use plastic items such as plates, cutlery, straws and cotton buds sticks.

560 MEPs voted in favour of the agreement with EU ministers, 35 against and 28 abstained.

The following products will be banned in the EU by 2021:

Single-use plastic cutlery (forks, knives, spoons and chopsticks)

Single-use plastic plates

Plastic straws

Cotton bud sticks made of plastic

Plastic balloon sticks

Oxo-degradable plastics and food containers and expanded polystyrene cups

According to the European Commission, more than 80% of marine litter is plastics. The products covered by this new law constitute 70% of all marine litter items. Due to its slow rate of decomposition, plastic accumulates in seas, oceans and on beaches in the EU and worldwide. Plastic residue is found in marine species – such as sea turtles, seals, whales and birds, but also in fish and shellfish, and therefore in the human food chain.

7. Tokyo Olympics

This event was supposed to take place last year but the whole world received an August visitor, so it had to be paused. But now it has been scheduled for July this year, hopefully everything goes as planned.

8. Eurovision Song Contest

If all things go as planned, the Eurovision song contest will take place in Rotterdam, Netherlands in May this year.

9. Super Bowl Halftime Show

The game is scheduled for the 7th of February. It has not been announced yet which team will be playing but The Weeknd will be performing at the halftime show.
