10 TEACHING SHOCKS TO EXPECT IN POLISH EDUCATION

Image
As international students we are pretty used to different systems of tutoring. In fact, the Nigerian in me was expecting a strict style of education in Poland as I thought the UK standard was what all countries in Europe adopted, my parents would even often say to me, "study hard ooo, their grading system is different abroad ooo", my heart will be doing gbim gbim. Alas, there was no cause for alarm. Although, I can't really conclude if it was just my school that was laid back or it was like that in most Polish universities. Anyway, I'm thankful studying in Poland didn't give me depression. However, as laid back as the education system was generally, there were some "teaching shocks" I didn't see coming, especially the gym lessons. If you are planning to study in Poland, these are some of the tutoring systems to look forward to. Enjoy 😉  Photo by Severinus Dewantara on Unsplash THE ACCENTS -   This shouldn't necessarily be a shock as it is well

TOP 10 BEST REASONS TO CONSIDER STUDYING IN POLAND THIS YEAR

Image
In the topic of "study abroad", European countries are mostly overlooked. Many see Europe as a tourist destination, not a place you go get a degree or settle in. Although, I must say, that mindset is changing nowadays. Having lived in Europe for years now, I can categorically attest to the beauty and serenity of living here.  Among the most talked about countries in the Europe, Poland is rarely mentioned. I guess it's because people still think of it as a communist or third world European country. In-fact, I have seen people say they have never heard of Poland, some others think it's in Asia. Well, I can write without any doubt that Poland is now one of the most developed countries in Europe, the rate at which this place went from bottom of the barrel to being one of the most sought-after destinations for IT and other international companies should be acknowledged.  Without further much-ado, here are some reasons to consider studying in Poland this year. But, the theme for this year is "New Year, New Perspective", we are going to try to see things differently this year. We have learned from previous mistakes and we are going to tackle this year in a different light. Here are some perspectives we can have towards this year.  This year, we are having a positive attitude towards how we handle life. This year, we are pushing down negativity as much

6 HELPFUL & IMPORTANT WAYS TO LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS

Image
This might seem like an odd or eyebrow raising topic to some of you but if you struggle with high expectation syndrome or in common terms 'perfectionism' like myself, you will be completely on board with wanting to discover the ways to lower your expectations. Don't get me wrong it is not terrible to have high expectation towards a particular goal but if it stands in the way of your happiness, or interferes with your mood when your projection doesn't pan out the way you wanted, then, perhaps you need to learn how to curb your enthusiasm.  Lowering your expectations doesn't and shouldn't make you a pessimist. It shouldn't stop you from giving your all to your goals. It should just help you to learn to control your eagerness and give you the element of surprise when you finally experience an achievement. That being said, here are some ways with which you can practice the act of lowering your expectations. 1. PRACTICE SELF-LOVE - To me this is the first step
